Scout Report
The transition from North Carolina prep standout to SEC freshman is never easy, but some players are built for the challenge of major college basketball.
Background
Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Kaden Magwood developed his game in the basketball-rich environment of the Queen City before making the move to Louisville, Kentucky for his prep career. The 6-2 combo guard's journey took him through the competitive high school ranks where he established himself as one of the top prospects in his class. His path ultimately led to Auburn, where he's now competing at the highest level of college basketball as a freshman.
Playing Style
Magwood brings versatility to the backcourt with his ability to play both guard positions effectively. At 6-2, he possesses good size for a combo guard and can create matchup problems when Auburn needs scoring from the perimeter. His experience playing different roles throughout his prep career translates well to the college game, where coaches value players who can adapt to various situations. The freshman is still adjusting to the speed and physicality of SEC basketball, but his basketball IQ and positional flexibility give him the tools to contribute as he develops.
Recruitment
Now settled in at Auburn as a college freshman, Magwood's focus has shifted from recruitment to development within Bruce Pearl's system. His ranking as the #35 prospect in the 2025 high school class speaks to his potential ceiling as he adjusts to the rigors of SEC competition. The Tigers saw enough in his skill set and upside to secure his commitment over other suitors.
