Colben Landrew
#22UConn
Scout Report
When a top-25 recruit reclassifies up and enrolls early at UConn, you know Dan Hurley saw something special on the tape.
Background
The Marietta, Georgia native built his reputation at Wheeler High School, one of the premier basketball programs in the state. Playing alongside fellow high-major commits like Tylis Jordan and Jaron Saulsberry, Landrew learned what it takes to compete at the highest level before making the jump to Storrs.
Playing Style
At 6-6, Landrew brings the versatility that modern college basketball demands from the small forward spot. He can handle the ball in transition and create his own shot off the dribble when defenses close out hard. His length bothers opposing wings on the defensive end, and he's comfortable switching multiple positions in pick-and-roll coverage. The adjustment to college physicality will be the biggest hurdle as he adds strength to his frame.
Recruitment
The recruitment is over with his enrollment at UConn, but the decision speaks volumes about his ceiling. Hurley doesn't take chances on early enrollees unless he believes they can contribute to championship-level basketball. With 26 D1 offers in his back pocket, including blue bloods like Alabama and Auburn, Landrew had options but chose the defending national champions.
