Scout Report

When you watch tape of forwards who can guard multiple positions while creating their own shot, you're seeing the kind of versatility that wins March games. That's exactly what jumps off the screen with this 6-8 wing who's been turning heads at one of prep basketball's most competitive programs.

Background

Coming out of Fort Lauderdale, Alex Constanza made the move to SPIRE Academy to test himself against elite competition daily. Growing up in South Florida's basketball-rich environment, he developed his game on courts that have produced countless Division I talents. The transition to SPIRE has put him in a pressure cooker alongside some of the nation's top prospects, including the seventh-ranked player in the 2027 class. That environment has accelerated his development and exposed him to the kind of intensity he'll face at Georgetown.

Playing Style

Constanza plays with a controlled aggression that allows him to impact winning on multiple levels. His 6-8 frame gives him positional flexibility to guard wings and slide down to power forward in smaller lineups. Offensively, he operates best in structured sets where he can use his size advantage in the mid-post or work from the perimeter. He processes the game at a good pace, rarely forcing bad shots even when his team needs a bucket. Defensively, his length disrupts passing lanes and he's comfortable switching on ball screens. The combination of basketball IQ and physical tools makes him the type of player coaches trust in crucial possessions.

Strengths

His shooting stroke from the perimeter gives him legitimate three-level scoring ability, and he's comfortable pulling up off the dribble or catching and firing in rhythm. The footwork in the post is advanced for his age, allowing him to create separation against smaller defenders. What really separates him is his court awareness - he rarely makes the highlight reel mistake and consistently makes the right read. Coaches love his motor and willingness to do the dirty work that doesn't always show up in the box score.

Areas to Watch

Adding functional strength will help him finish through contact more consistently, especially when attacking bigger defenders in the paint. His handle could tighten up to unlock more creation opportunities in isolation situations. The three-point percentage needs to climb to make him a true stretch threat that forces defenses to close out hard.

Player Comparison

His game reminds me of a young Otto Porter - similar size and skill set with the ability to fill up a stat sheet without necessarily dominating the ball. Like Porter, Constanza impacts winning through efficient offense and smart defensive play rather than explosive athleticism. Both players have that calm demeanor and basketball IQ that translates well to high-level college basketball.

Recruitment

With 23 Division I offers already in hand, Constanza clearly caught the attention of major programs before committing to Georgetown. Schools like Kansas, Syracuse, and Auburn were all pushing hard, but the Hoyas' pitch resonated. Georgetown gets a versatile forward who fits their system and can contribute immediately in the Big East. His commitment gives the program a cornerstone piece for their 2026 recruiting class, and the early decision should help with team chemistry and development.

Projection

At Georgetown, he projects as a versatile wing who can play multiple positions in Coach Cooley's system. His ceiling is as a four-year contributor who develops into an All-Big East caliber player by his junior or senior season. Professional basketball is a possibility if he continues developing his outside shot and adds the strength to compete against grown men, but his floor is as a quality college player who helps win games at the highest level.
