Scout Report

Syracuse landed a wing in the 2027 class who already sits at #19 nationally, and he did it out of a SPIRE Academy locker room crowded with high-major talent. A 6-7 small forward who earns 15 D1 offers in that setting has been seen against real competition, and the evaluations held up.

Background

Moussa Kamissoko comes from Pawling, New York, a small Hudson Valley town not known for producing nationally ranked prospects. He moved into the prep school circuit at SPIRE Academy, one of the more talent-dense rosters in the country. His teammates there include Dylan Mingo, a 2026 combo guard ranked #15 and committed to Baylor. Also on the roster are Kiyan Anthony, a 2025 shooting guard committed to Syracuse, and Kayden Mingo, a 2025 combo guard committed to Penn State. Playing alongside that many high-major players sharpens a wing's role-player instincts early, and that usually shows up in how a prospect handles the ball, the spacing and the touches he doesn't get.

Playing Style

At 6-7, Kamissoko fits the profile of a modern forward who can guard multiple spots and play without needing the ball every trip. In a lineup with two high-level guards, the wing has to make quick decisions: catch, read, and either attack a closeout or move it. That is the environment he has played in, and it tends to produce players who understand pace and spacing. Defensively, a 6-7 frame gives him the length to switch screens and contest on the perimeter, which matters in a league that rewards versatile wings. In transition, forwards of this size can run the lane, finish through contact and put pressure on a retreating defense. The ranking suggests evaluators see enough skill and athletic ability to project him as a primary rotation piece rather than a role specialist. Specific tape-level details such as shot mechanics, handle under pressure and rebounding habits are where a live viewing matters most, and the numbers here are limited.

Strengths

Size at the wing spot comes first. A 6-7 small forward can see over defenders, finish over smaller guards and defend across positions. The offer list backs that up: Cincinnati, Louisville, NC State, Penn State, Syracuse, NJIT, Sacred Heart, Fordham and seven others, a mix of power-conference programs and mid-majors that reached out early. Playing at SPIRE against top-tier teammates and opponents also means he has been tested daily in practice, which is a real developmental edge. Coaches get a wing who has been coached in a high-level prep program and understands how to fit alongside ball-dominant guards.

Areas to Watch

The jump from top-20 prospect to impact college player usually comes down to physical development and consistency. Adding strength will help him absorb contact in the ACC, where wings are bigger and more physical than in prep ball. Sharpening the perimeter shot and the off-the-dribble game will determine whether he is a connector or a featured option.

Player Comparison

A clean one-to-one comp is hard to land without more detail on his skill set, and forcing one would be a disservice. The general archetype is the long, versatile ACC wing who guards three positions and fills gaps, the kind of player a coach slots in because the lineup works better with him on the floor. How far he moves beyond that role depends on how his shooting and creation develop.

Recruitment

The recruitment is finished. Kamissoko is committed to Syracuse, choosing the Orange over a list that included Cincinnati, Louisville, NC State and Penn State. Fifteen D1 offers gave him plenty of leverage, and he used it to settle on a school early in the 2027 cycle. He will share a locker room with SPIRE teammate Kiyan Anthony, who is also headed to Syracuse, so the transition should come with a built-in familiarity. The next checkpoint is his senior season and the signing period, where the commitment becomes official.

Projection

The floor is a rotation wing at the high-major level who defends and plays within the offense. The ceiling is a starting forward in the ACC who stretches the floor and guards multiple positions, which would open a door to pro basketball. Where he lands in that range depends on how his skills and body develop over his first two years in college.
