Six-foot-four guards who can toggle between running the offense and playing off the ball are the most useful pieces in modern recruiting, and La Lumiere keeps collecting them. Chase Branham is the latest, and Indiana got him locked in early.
Background
Branham comes out of Rogersville, Missouri, a small town in the southwest part of the state, and that matters. Players from places like that rarely get a free pass in the national rankings. They get seen because they leave and test themselves against better competition. His move to La Lumiere School, one of the most closely watched prep programs in the country, put him in a daily environment where every possession gets scouted. Missouri is one of the programs that offered him, so the home-state pull was there even after he left for a national stage.
Playing Style
The combo guard label can be a cop-out, but at 6-4 it describes a real roster need. Branham has the size to see over most defenders when he initiates offense, which makes pick-and-roll reads and live-dribble passing easier to execute against pressure. Areas to Watch
The next step is physical and mental at the same time. Big Ten guards are stronger and more experienced, so adding functional strength will help him finish through contact and guard bigger players. He will also need to make quick decisions against defenses that know his tendencies, which is where he can separate himself from other highly ranked guards.

A clean NBA or college comparison is hard to pin down without more specific tape on his shot profile and athletic testing. The best way to frame him is as a bigger-bodied lead guard who can also play off the ball, a type that is much more valuable now than it was a decade ago. That archetype matters more than any single name.
Recruitment
Branham is done with the process. He is committed to Indiana, and the offer list shows how contested he was: Purdue, Tennessee, Missouri, Iowa, Kansas State, Creighton and Austin Peay all offered, which makes eight Division I offers in total. Landing a top-25 national prospect from that field is a meaningful win for the Hoosiers, particularly with a Big Ten rival like Purdue and an SEC program like Tennessee in the mix. With his senior season underway, the focus shifts from recruitment to preparation for the college jump.
Projection
The college ceiling is a high-level rotation guard at Indiana, with a path to a starting role if the shooting and decision-making translate. As a top-25 recruit, he carries real upside beyond that. Pro outcomes will depend on how his shot, strength and defensive consistency develop.
