Scout Report

Nineteen Division I offers before most kids his age have a driver's permit. That's the reality for a wing out of Coatesville who's already being talked about as the second-best prospect in the entire 2028 class, and once the tape rolls, the reasons why become obvious fast.

Background

Hiller grew up in Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and still suits up for Coatesville High, a program with a long track record of producing Division I talent in the Philadelphia suburbs. He's built his game on the local AAU circuit, where his combination of size and skill separated him from older competition early. The path from local gym rat to top-two national recruit in his class happened fast, and the offer sheet reflects it. Coatesville has become something of a proving ground for him, a place where he's tested himself against varsity-level physicality well before his time.

Playing Style

At 6-foot-6, Hiller plays with a tempo that's more advanced than his age suggests — he doesn't rush, doesn't panic, and reads the floor like someone who's watched a lot of film. He's comfortable operating in space, whether that's attacking a closeout off the catch or initiating offense himself in ball-screen actions. On defense, his length lets him guard multiple positions, and he shows real instincts for rotations and closing passing lanes rather than just relying on athleticism to bail him out. He's not a ball-dominant scorer who needs the rock in his hands to be effective; he moves well without it, relocating and cutting to keep the offense flowing. His frame still has room to fill out, but the foundation — footwork, spacing awareness, defensive positioning — is already there. Watching him, the game looks slower for him than it does for the guys around him, which is the trait scouts key on most.

Strengths

His size-to-skill combination at the wing is the headline. A 6-6 forward who can put the ball on the floor, make plays for others, and shoot it from the perimeter is a rare package at this stage of development. Coaches watching tape point to his feel for the game — he consistently makes the right read in ball-screen situations and doesn't force bad shots. Defensively, his length and awareness allow him to guard up a position without getting exploited, which matters a lot for programs looking for switchable wings.

Areas to Watch

Continued physical development will be the biggest factor — adding strength will help him finish through contact and hold up defensively against older, stronger wings as competition levels rise. His outside shot, while flashing potential, needs more consistency and volume to become a true weapon rather than a complementary piece. Sharpening his off-the-dribble scoring against high-level length will determine how much of an offensive workload he can eventually carry.

Player Comparison

His build and playmaking instincts from the forward spot draw comparisons to a young Jayson Tatum — not in terms of polish yet, since Hiller is still years away from that level, but in the way both use size, footwork, and patience to create advantages rather than pure explosiveness. Like Tatum, Hiller's game is built on reading situations rather than overpowering them, which tends to age well as a player matures physically.

Recruitment

Hiller already holds 19 Division I offers, a staggering number for a player still years from being able to sign, headlined by blue-blood and power-conference programs including Alabama, BYU, Indiana, Kansas State, Louisville, Maryland, Missouri and NC State among 11 others. No commitment is imminent given his class year, and recruiting for a 2028 prospect this far out typically stays fluid for a long stretch. Expect the offer list to keep growing as more programs get eyes on him through the AAU circuit and high school season, with a real decision likely still years away. For now, he's very much in the evaluation phase, with programs positioning early to stay in the mix.

Projection

Hiller's ceiling at the college level looks like a high-major wing capable of guarding multiple positions while contributing as a secondary or even primary scoring option, depending on how his shot and frame develop over the next several years. If his perimeter shooting rounds into form and he adds strength, the pro trajectory includes legitimate NBA conversation down the road as a versatile forward. The range of outcomes is still wide this early, but the tools — size, feel, defensive versatility — give him a real foundation to build a lengthy, impactful career.
