Scout Report
Six-foot-ten with two more years of growing to do, and he's already fielding calls from high-major programs. Logan Chwastyk is the kind of frame evaluators circle on a roster sheet before the ball even goes up.
Background
Chwastyk is a Malvern, Pennsylvania native playing his prep ball at Malvern Prep, one of the more respected programs in the Philadelphia area for developing frontcourt talent. He's grown into his body quickly, and the track he's on through the school's hoops pipeline has already put him on college radars as a freshman or sophomore-aged prospect. Local AAU circuits in the Philly/South Jersey corridor have given him reps against older, more physical competition, which shows in how he handles contact around the rim. For a player this young, the combination of size and school pedigree has accelerated his recruitment timeline considerably.
Playing Style
Chwastyk plays a center's game built around length and positioning rather than forced aggression. He runs the floor well for his size, which matters more than people realize at this stage — bigs who can sprint the rim in transition create easy offense without needing a refined post package yet. Defensively, his length lets him contest shots he has no business getting to, and he uses his frame to wall off the paint instead of chasing blocks. On offense, he's still developing a go-to move on the block, but he finishes well around the basket when he catches it in rhythm. He's not a stretch five yet, and that's fine at this age — the priority right now should be footwork and touch, not a three-point shot. What stands out most is his feel for spacing on defense; he doesn't get lost rotating, which is rare for a player his age and size.
Strengths
The physical tools are the obvious starting point — 6-10 with room to add strength puts him ahead of most players in his class before he does anything else. His rim protection instincts are already ahead of his offensive game, and that's typically the right order of development for a young center. He runs well in transition for a player his size, which keeps him from becoming a liability when the pace picks up. Coaches watching tape see a kid whose motor doesn't dip even when plays aren't run for him.
Areas to Watch
The post game needs reps — counters off the catch, a reliable hook with either hand, and better footwork when he's forced to work against bigger bodies. Strength is the other obvious one; as he faces more physical competition, adding mass will determine how much of his length actually translates into production. If he can pair his frame with a developed low-post skill set over the next two years, the offer sheet grows fast.
Player Comparison
His skill set right now resembles an early-career Walker Kessler — a long, rim-protecting center who affects the game more with length and verticality than with a polished scoring package. That comparison is about role and timeline, not production; Kessler didn't become a dominant shot-blocker overnight either. It's a reasonable developmental arc if Chwastyk keeps adding strength and refining his touch.
Recruitment
Three Division I offers already on the table — Penn State, Cal State Bakersfield, and Rider — is a strong starting point for a player still two classes away from college. Penn State's offer in particular signals high-major programs are already tracking his frame and upside, even without a finished offensive game. No commitment is imminent, and there shouldn't be — at this stage in the 2028 cycle, it's about accumulating interest and letting the body and skill set develop. Expect the offer list to grow significantly over the next 18-24 months if his trajectory holds.
Projection
The college ceiling here is a high-major starting center if the skill development matches the frame — someone who anchors a defense and finishes lobs and put-backs at a high rate. The pro outlook is impossible to project meaningfully this early, but the physical starting point is the kind scouts don't ignore. Worst-case outcomes still likely involve a quality college rotation big; best-case puts him in high-major starting-five conversations by his junior or senior year of high school.
