Scout Report
Standing at 6-11 with European fundamentals and untapped potential, this Croatian prospect represents one of the most intriguing international sleepers in his class.
Background
Andrija Jelavic developed his basketball foundation in Croatia's competitive youth system, where he honed the technical skills and basketball IQ that European programs are renowned for producing. His journey from the Croatian courts to committing to a prestigious SEC program demonstrates his rapid development and the faith coaches have in his upside. The big man's international background brings a different perspective and skill set than most American-born prospects.
Playing Style
Jelavic combines legitimate size at 6-11 with the soft touch and court vision that European bigs are known for developing. His fundamentals are already advanced, showing proper footwork in the post and the ability to face up and shoot from mid-range. While he possesses good length and timing as a shot blocker, his frame suggests he'll need to add significant strength to compete physically at the highest level. His basketball IQ and passing ability for his size make him an intriguing prospect who could develop into a modern stretch big with continued development of his perimeter game.
Recruitment
Despite being ranked #153 nationally in the class of 2025, Jelavic's commitment to Kentucky speaks volumes about his potential and the coaching staff's belief in his development trajectory. His international status and relatively late emergence on the American recruiting scene likely contributed to his current ranking, but his physical tools and skill foundation suggest significant upside as he adapts to American basketball.
