Scout Report
When you've got four D1 commits on the same high school roster, somebody's doing something right in the development department. Cambridge Arts, Technology and Science has turned into a legitimate pipeline program, and their newest Loyola Chicago commit is starting to show why college coaches keep making the trip to Massachusetts.
Background
Terry comes out of Braintree, a blue-collar suburb south of Boston where basketball runs deep through the community programs. He made the move to Cambridge Arts for his junior season, joining what's become one of the stronger prep programs in New England. Playing alongside fellow commits like California-bound Nicolas Mitrovic and Providence's Jaylen Harrell has accelerated his development in ways that smaller programs simply can't replicate. The daily competition in practice against other high-major talent has been invaluable for his growth.
Playing Style
Terry operates as a true wing who can slide between the two and three positions depending on matchups. He's comfortable initiating offense from the perimeter but doesn't force the issue when better playmakers are available. His decision-making shows maturity beyond his ranking, particularly in transition where he reads defenses well and makes the right pass more often than not. Defensively, he uses his length to disrupt passing lanes and has the lateral quickness to stay with guards on switches. The motor runs consistently on both ends, which coaches notice immediately when evaluating tape. He impacts winning in ways that don't always show up in the box score.
Strengths
The shooting stroke is his calling card right now. Terry has legitimate three-point range with a quick release that translates well against college-level closeouts. His basketball IQ allows him to find soft spots in zone defenses and he's developing a solid pull-up game from mid-range. The length at 6-5 gives him an advantage over smaller guards, and he's learning to use that size effectively around the rim when he attacks closeouts.
Areas to Watch
Adding functional strength will be critical for his success at the next level. Right now he can get bumped off his spots by physical defenders, which limits his effectiveness driving through contact. Developing more creativity off the dribble would also unlock another dimension to his offensive game and make him less predictable in half-court sets.
Player Comparison
There are shades of Doug McDermott in his approach to the game. Both players use excellent shooting ability and high basketball IQ to impact winning despite not being the most explosive athletes. Like McDermott, Terry understands how to play within team concepts while still finding ways to score efficiently when his number is called.
Recruitment
The Loyola Chicago commitment came after a steady recruiting process that saw his stock rise throughout the summer circuit. Xavier and Providence pushed hard late in the process, but the Ramblers' track record of developing wings and their style of play made them the right fit. Porter Moser's departure to Oklahoma actually helped solidify Terry's decision, as the current staff has maintained strong relationships and clear development plans. He's expected to sign during the early period and should arrive on campus ready to contribute immediately.
Projection
Terry projects as a rotation player who can provide instant offense off the bench early in his college career. His shooting ability and understanding of team concepts should earn him meaningful minutes as an upperclassman, potentially developing into a starter by his junior season. Professional opportunities will likely depend on continued physical development and expanding his skill set, but he has the tools to carve out a long college career.
