Scout Report
The 6'3" guard from Cambridge is turning heads at The Newman School with his natural athleticism and developing skillset.
Background
Xavier Sanchez calls Cambridge, Massachusetts home but has found his basketball foundation at The Newman School in nearby Boston. As a Class of 2027 prospect, he's still in the early stages of his high school career but has already begun to establish himself within the competitive Boston prep scene. The Newman School has provided him with a strong academic and athletic platform to develop his game against quality competition.
Playing Style
Sanchez's calling card is his athleticism, which shows up consistently on both ends of the floor. At 6'3", he possesses ideal size for a guard position and uses his physical tools to create advantages in transition and attacking the rim. His athletic ability allows him to play above the rim and recover defensively when beaten off the dribble. While still developing the nuanced aspects of his game like court vision and perimeter shooting consistency, his natural physical gifts provide a strong foundation to build upon. The combination of size and athleticism gives him versatility to potentially play multiple positions as he continues to mature.
Recruitment
As a 2027 prospect, Sanchez is still early in the recruitment process with no reported offers at this time. His development over the next two years will be crucial in determining his collegiate ceiling and the level of programs that pursue him. With his athletic profile and enrollment at a respected prep program like The Newman School, he has the tools and environment necessary to attract significant attention from college coaches.
