Scout Report
When you've got the #1 and #19 ranked players in their respective classes as teammates, finding your role requires a special kind of basketball IQ. Seven Spurlock has done exactly that at Dynamic Prep, carving out his identity as the glue piece on one of the nation's premier prep programs.
Background
The Dallas native landed at Dynamic Prep to compete alongside some of the best young talent in the country, including Marcus Spears Jr. and Austin Goosby. Playing in that environment daily has accelerated his development and taught him how to impact winning without needing the ball in his hands constantly. His family made the move to get him the best possible preparation for high-major basketball, and the investment is paying dividends as college coaches take notice.
Playing Style
Spurlock operates as the quintessential role player who understands situational basketball. He reads the game well, knowing when to be aggressive and when to facilitate for his more heralded teammates. His pace is controlled rather than explosive, but he rarely makes the wrong decision with the ball. Defensively, he uses his length and positioning to disrupt passing lanes and contest shots without gambling for steals. He's comfortable playing multiple positions, which gives coaches flexibility in their rotations. The 6-5 frame allows him to guard wings effectively while having enough court vision to initiate offense when needed.
Strengths
His basketball IQ separates him from other players in his ranking range. Spurlock has excellent court awareness and consistently makes the right play rather than the flashy one. He shoots the ball well from three-point range with a quick release that works both off the catch and off movement. His defensive versatility lets him guard positions 2 through 4 effectively, and he communicates well on that end of the floor.
Areas to Watch
Adding more aggressive scoring instincts would elevate his game significantly. Sometimes he defers when he should attack, particularly in transition opportunities. Developing his handle to create his own shot consistently would make him much harder to game-plan against at the college level.
Player Comparison
He reminds me of a young Kyle Anderson with better shooting. Both players have that same deliberate pace and high basketball IQ, but Spurlock has more range on his jumper. The way he processes the game and finds the right play over the spectacular one mirrors how Anderson has carved out a long NBA career.
Recruitment
Oregon landed a commitment from Spurlock despite heavy competition from programs like Auburn, Houston, and Texas. The Ducks did an excellent job selling him on their player development program and the opportunity to contribute early in their system. With Dana Altman's track record of maximizing versatile forwards, this feels like a natural fit. His early commitment should allow Oregon to focus their remaining 2026 recruiting efforts on other positions of need.
Projection
At Oregon, he projects as a steady rotation player who could develop into a starter by his sophomore or junior year. His ceiling is likely a role player who helps teams win through versatility and smart play rather than dominant individual performances. The pro potential exists if he continues developing his offensive game, but his value will always come from doing the little things that impact winning.

Spent the evening at @DynamicPrepSch as Faze (Dynamic Prep) played Jelly Fam. Jelly Fam was up 11 points in the 4th and Faze rallied back and won 77-72. @Sevenspurlock1 started out slow but finished out strong. A utility guard that’s been having a helluva season. 12pts 7rebs https://t.co/OoloXrGVfe
