Scout Report
The Mississippi prep basketball scene is buzzing about a young floor general who's quietly making waves in the 2026 recruiting class.
Background
Aj Benison represents Canton High School in Mississippi, where he's developing his craft as a point guard in the competitive state prep landscape. As a member of the 2026 class, Benison is still in the early stages of his high school career but has already caught the attention of those tracking emerging talent in the region. His journey through Mississippi high school basketball provides him with the opportunity to face quality competition while honing his skills at the game's most demanding position.
Playing Style
As a point guard, Benison likely possesses the court vision and basketball IQ necessary to orchestrate an offense and make his teammates better. His development at the position suggests he's comfortable handling the ball under pressure and making decisions in transition and half-court sets. While specific physical attributes remain unknown, his ability to play the point at the high school level indicates solid fundamentals and an understanding of game flow. The key for Benison will be continuing to develop his leadership qualities and expanding his offensive repertoire as he matures physically and gains more varsity experience.
Recruitment
With no reported offers yet, Benison's recruitment is in its infancy, which is typical for 2026 prospects still establishing themselves at the varsity level. His development over the next two seasons will be crucial in determining his college basketball ceiling and attracting interest from programs at various levels. As he continues to grow and refine his point guard skills, expect his recruitment to heat up if he can demonstrate consistent production and leadership for Canton.
