Scout Report
When Carolina comes calling for a 2026 prospect this early, you know there's something special brewing in Groton, Massachusetts.
Background
Williford suits up for Lawrence Academy, one of New England's premier prep programs known for developing college-ready talent. The boarding school environment has helped polish his game while competing against top-tier competition. He's running alongside Alex Egbuonu, the #79-ranked 2026 forward who's already locked in with Marquette, giving scouts a solid measuring stick for his development.
Playing Style
Without concrete positional data, evaluating Williford requires watching how he fits within Lawrence Academy's system and his chemistry with high-level teammates like Egbuonu. His early offer from North Carolina suggests he's got the physical tools and basketball IQ that translate to high-major basketball. The Tar Heels don't typically extend offers to unknowns, especially this far out from signing day. He'll need to prove he can be a primary option rather than just a complementary piece, but the foundation appears solid for continued growth.
Recruitment
That Carolina offer is significant validation, but it's just the beginning for a 2026 prospect with two full prep seasons ahead. Expect more high-major programs to circle back once they get extended looks at his film and live evaluations. His ceiling depends on how much he develops physically and whether he can establish a clear positional identity.
