Anthony Hammett
Richmond
Scout Report
When your backcourt mate is the #121 player in the country heading to Rutgers, you better bring something special to the table yourself.
Background
Hammett comes from a basketball family where the sport runs deep - his father, brother, and sister all share his name and athletic background. The Richmond Heights floor general has been grinding in Ohio's competitive prep scene. Playing alongside elite talent like Dorian Jones has accelerated his development and raised his floor considerably.
Playing Style
At 5-11, Hammett brings that classic point guard package - quick first step, solid court vision, and the basketball IQ you want running your offense. He's comfortable in the pick-and-roll and does a nice job finding teammates in transition. The shot selection can get questionable at times, and he'll need to tighten up his handle against high-major pressure defense. His size limits him defensively against bigger guards, but he competes and uses positioning well.
Recruitment
No reported offers yet, which feels like an oversight given his production and the talent around him at Richmond Heights. Playing with a Rutgers commit should open some eyes this season. His ceiling projects as a solid mid-major contributor who can run a program and make others better.
