Scout Report
When a 2026 point guard already has Power 5 programs like Syracuse and Maryland calling, you pay attention.
Background
Canton runs the show at Rutgers Preparatory School in Somerset County, where he's developed into one of the more intriguing floor generals in New Jersey. Playing alongside rising 2028 prospect Will Brunson gives him a legitimate scoring threat to work with. The prep school environment has clearly accelerated his development against quality competition.
Playing Style
Canton controls tempo with the poise you want from your lead guard. He sees the floor well and makes the right read in pick-and-roll situations, though he'll need to add more burst to his first step to separate against elite defenders. His jump shot mechanics look solid from mid-range, but extending that range consistently to the college three-point line will be crucial. The kid doesn't turn the ball over much and competes on both ends, which coaches love in a point guard.
Recruitment
Three D1 offers already including the home-state Scarlet Knights tells you he's on the right track. Syracuse and Maryland don't offer 2026 guards lightly, so expect more high-major programs to circle back as he continues developing. Still has two full seasons to polish his game and add the physical strength needed for the next level.
