Braxton Keathley
#198Uncommitted
Scout Report
When you find a 6-5 point guard who can see over defenses and still handle the rock like a traditional floor general, you stop what you're doing and pay attention.
Background
Keathley comes out of Martin County, where he's been putting together a solid prep career while developing his craft. The rangy guard has been working the AAU circuit, though he hasn't broken through to the major national exposure events yet. Being the son of an athlete himself, basketball IQ and competitive drive seem to run in the family.
Playing Style
What jumps off the page is that rare combination of size and ball skills at the point guard spot. At 6-5, Keathley can see passing lanes that shorter guards simply can't, and he uses that length to his advantage in the pick-and-roll game. His court vision is advanced for his age, though he's still learning when to be aggressive scoring versus when to facilitate. The jump shot needs consistency, particularly from three-point range, and his decision-making in traffic can get sloppy when pressured by athletic defenders.
Recruitment
Currently sitting at #198 nationally in the 2027 class without any reported offers, but that's not uncommon for underclassmen point guards still developing their games. College coaches are starting to take notice of his size and skill set combination. If he continues developing his shooting and tightens up his handle, expect mid-major programs to start extending offers by next summer.
