Stefan Welsh
Head Coach
Stefan Welsh brings a unique blend of playing and coaching experience to his role as head basketball coach at Woodside. The 6-foot-3 guard led the Wolverines to back-to-back state championships as a player in 2004 and 2005 before continuing his basketball career at the University of Arkansas from 2006-2010. Following college, Welsh pursued professional basketball, playing in the NBA Development League where he averaged 8.3 points per game for the Austin Toros during the 2011-12 season. His professional journey also took him internationally, competing in leagues across Israel, Canada, China, and other countries. Now returning to his home turf fifteen years later, Welsh joins an exclusive group as one of only three former Hampton Roads boys basketball players to win state titles as both a player and coach, alongside Darren Sanderlin and Brandon Plummer. His extensive playing experience at multiple levels provides valuable insight as he works to guide the Wolverines back to championship contention.
